"Living and dying isn't the real issue. If you cling to being alive, you become frightened and your eyes get clouded. If you don't have that desire to begin with, you can fight on, right to the end of the world."

“… Hmph.” That was practically a straightforward offer to start a fight. In all honesty, he wouldn’t mind knocking this woman flat on her ass, just to take her smug attitude down a few pegs. He had done it countless times to other nameless assholes already, and each time ended with a small bit of satisfaction. Despite that, though…
“No thanks. Not in the mood to scrap just to prove a point.” Of course, if she started attacking him, he’d obviously do what it would take to hold her off. But he had gained some better self-control over the past few months.

That seemed to agitate her all the further; one of her Beretta pistols were withdrawn from their holster, waved around moreso for emphasis than an actual threat. Her body language, however, was becoming increasingly threatening and aggressive in nature.
“People like you really piss me off, Whitey, y'know that? You get all worked up, then calm right back on down just to be the bigger man. Doesn’t earn you any brownie points in this shithole of a town – just earns you some bulletholes. Look, if you’re scared of me, I’ll make it even easier on ya.”
It was with admitted reluctance that she slid the beloved weapon back within its holster, setting it adjacent to their positions and hanging it on a rotting beam; it was as corrosive as Roanapur itself.
“No weapons. Don’t even have to knock me on my ass. Knock my cigarette outta my mouth, and I’ll be happy – my tight little ass’ll go on its merry fuckin’ way. I need a good fight, and if you’re so goddamn capable, back up the shit you were spewin’.”
1. "Don't ask questions."
2. "You don't want to do that."
3. "This isn't what you think it is."
4. "That wasn't me."
5. "Please tell me that's you..."
6. "Is that supposed to do that?"
7. "Do you hear/smell/feel/see/taste that?"
8. "I don't think this is right."
9. "Are you sure about this?"
10. "I don't think we're allowed in here."
11. "This doesn't seem safe."
12. "Have you been going through my items..?"
13. "This isn't where I left this."
14. "I know what I'm doing."
“I ain’t sayin’ you can’t someone’s ass.” He clarified, a sigh following as he glanced away from the loud mouth. “You just can’t kick my ass.” It may have sounded a bit cocky to her, but it might as well have been a statement of facts for him. Just how many bounty hunters and NOL soldiers had given him the same tough guy/girl act before he had to put them in place?
|| /̵͇̿̿/’̿’̿ ̿—;; “Right.”
There was a brief pause in which she pulled out her trusty lighter, deeming a fresh cigarette the only way to handle this cocky son of a bitch. Granted, she was fairly cocky herself – but she wasn’t about to pull some righteous “I’m too powerful so let me just try and calm you down” line; she was more than prepared to back up her shit-talking.
It was only after a slow, steady stream of smoke billowed from her lips that she addressed him once more.
“Soon as you knock me on my ass and I give, I’ll believe ya. Teach me a lesson, why doncha?”

“Cause I know I can back up what I say.” One simply didn’t become the World’s Most Wanted Criminal by being all bark and no bite.
|| /̵͇̿̿/’̿’̿ ̿—;; “And how do ya know I can’t?” It wasn’t easy to get a reputation that made even a city rife with the best and worst faces of crime collectively steer clear – nor would she have a slot in the Lagoon Company if gunpower was the only wind in her sails.
